Welcome to StarStruck Kennel

Preserving the Heart and Heritage of the Keeshond

At StarStruck Kennel, our passion for dogs runs deep. As a child, I spent countless hours dreaming of the show ring, studying pedigrees, and learning everything I could about the world of purebred dogs. Though I grew up surrounded by loyal Collies and Shelties, it wasn’t until adulthood that I was finally able to fulfill my lifelong dream—showing and breeding dogs with purpose, care, and vision.

StarStruck is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the Keeshond—both in form and in spirit. We breed selectively and sparingly, only planning a litter when it aligns with our goals for the next generation. Each breeding is done with the intention of improving the breed, honoring its standard, and ensuring a bright future for this remarkable companion.

What sets StarStruck apart is our unwavering focus on temperament. Keeshonden are known for their outgoing, affectionate, and gentle nature—traits we consider non- negotiable in our program. All of our breeding decisions are made with temperament, structure, and breed type as guiding principles. Our dogs must first and foremost embody the friendly, even-tempered disposition that makes Keeshonden such wonderful family companions.

While we prioritize health, longevity, and temperament, StarStruck dogs have also earned recognition in the ring. Some of our proudest achievements include:

Some highlights include:
Finn – Best in Sweeps/RWD 2016 KCA nationals, 2016 Royal Canin BW at 7 months, 2018 select dog at Florida AKC championship Royal Canin, Select dog KCA nationals 2019, Select dog KCA nationals 2020, Best stud dog KCA nationals 2020.
Cadence – WB/BW KCA Nationals 2025, WB/AOM Regional in conjunction with 2025 KCA nationals, Best Maturity KCA nationals 2025
Becca – BOB Central Florida Kennel Club 2023, Select at KCA Nationals 2024, Select at Westminster 2024, AOM Regional held in conjunction with KCA nationals 2024.
Betsy – BOS Bitch KCA nationals 2024, Best in Futurity 2024 KCA nationals
And many more, each one a treasured part of our story.

At the end of the day, our proudest moments are not just in the show ring, but in the homes of the families who love our dogs. Whether placed at 10 weeks old or after a successful show career, every StarStruck dog is matched thoughtfully and with lifelong support.

We are committed to excellence in every generation—and to keeping the Keeshond as magical as ever.

About the Breeder

Anna Boehringer — StarStruck Keeshonden

At StarStruck Keeshonden, breeding isn’t just a passion—it’s a lifelong commitment to preserving and improving the Keeshond breed. I’m Anna Boehringer, and I have the privilege of sharing my life with these remarkable dogs. What began as a love for their expressive eyes, intelligent nature, and loyal temperament has grown into a mission to breed Keeshonden that are not only beautiful and structurally sound, but also make wonderful companions and ambassadors for the breed.

My program focuses on producing dogs with outstanding health, correct movement, sound structure, and the classic Keeshond temperament—friendly, affectionate, and full of personality. Every pairing is chosen with intention, blending proven pedigrees and top-quality traits to carry forward the very best of the breed.

Whether it’s in the show ring or curled up on the couch, our dogs are cherished members of the family. Puppies are raised in our home with plenty of love, attention, and early socialization to help them become confident, well-rounded adults.

I’m proud to be part of a supportive and knowledgeable Keeshond community and am always happy to mentor, answer questions, and help others discover the joy of living with this incredible breed.

About the Keeshond

The Ultimate Companion with a Smile

The Keeshond (pronounced kayz-hawnd) is a striking and spirited breed known for its intelligence, devotion, and signature “spectacles”—the expressive markings around its eyes that give it an almost humanlike gaze. Originally bred as a watchdog and companion on Dutch barges in the 18th century, the Keeshond has long been cherished for its lively personality, affectionate nature, and beautiful double coat.

Keeshonden are medium-sized dogs, typically weighing between 35–45 pounds, and they carry themselves with both grace and confidence. Their thick, plush coats are a hallmark of the breed, giving them a fox-like appearance, especially around their expressive face and alert, upright ears. Despite their dramatic look, the Keeshond is a relatively easy-keeping breed that thrives on companionship more than anything else.

Temperament is where the Keeshond truly shines. Friendly, cheerful, and eager to please, these dogs form strong bonds with their families. They are known for being exceptionally gentle with children, affectionate with adults, and generally sociable with other pets. Their intuitive nature makes them excellent family dogs, and they often seem to understand their humans on a deeply emotional level.

Keeshonden are also quite intelligent and thrive in environments where they are given opportunities to learn, play, and be included in daily activities. They do best in homes where they are not left alone for long hours, as they are true companion dogs who want to be part of the family.

Key Traits of the Keeshond
